MCS Intern Program

Since 2005, Manatee Children’s Services has collaborated with several local universities to provide a wide spectrum of internship opportunities to students enrolled in accredited social work and mental health programs. Because of the confidential nature of our programs, MCS requires all prospective interns to participate in an interview process and complete all background screening requirements.

For more information, please contact Cheryl Andrews, LCSW, Clinical Director, (941) 345-1200, extension 118 or click here to send Cheryl an email.

The goals of the internship program involve the following:
  • Providing students with an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills obtained in an academic setting to “real life” situations.
  • Educating students on the structure, policy, procedures, and operations of a not for profit organization.
  • Assisting the intern in successfully transitioning from student to a career in social services.
  • Developing and refine critical thinking and problem-solving techniques.
  • Exposing interns to diverse careers opportunities within the field of child welfare and mental health.
